What is a Sclerotherapy?

What is sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a common, minimally invasive injection used to reduce the apperance of spider and varicose veins. With nearly a 95% success rate, sclerotherapy is highly recommended for the successful reduction of unsightly veins.

How does sclerotherapy work to reduce the visibility of varicose veins?

Sclerotherapy is a direct injection of a sclerosing agent into the affected veins. The sclerosing agent irritates the veins and forces them to collapse reducing the appearance of the vein on the skin’s surface.

How long does the sclerotherapy treatment last?

Treatment sessions are typically 15 to 20 minutes long. Treatment times will vary depending on the severity, location, and the number of varicose veins present.

How many treatments of sclerotherapy will I need for optimal results?

Some patients may require multiple treatments, while others will see permanent results after just one injection appointment. Dr. Sinthanby will discuss the number of sessions required to meet your goals based on your personal health and condition status.

Does the sclerotherapy treatment hurt?

Most patients report that their sclerotherapy treatments are comfortable and that they experience little to no discomfort. Dr. Sinthanby has a gentle bedside manner helping patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment choice.
